In recent years, the German drive technology manufacturer NORD Drivesystems has been very active in the steel industry in China and India. NORD has supplied 2,500 geared motors to the Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation for a heavy plate mill in Pudong which produces, amongst others, sheets for the ship building industry.
HMS Industrial Networks has recently joined Mitsubishi Electric Europe’s e-F@ctory Alliance as a new partner. HMS is able to provide a fast low-cost solution for interconnecting Mitsubishi automation devices via a wide range of standardised industrial networks, while ensuring the secure exchange of data between those devices, in the form of its “Anybus” gateways, protocol converters and wireless solutions.
The DMG‐Portal Type DMU 600P milling machines have been designed to machine large components ‐up to 40 tons‐ at very high speed, dynamics and precision. Innovative drive systems are key contributing elements to this five axis system offering high versatility though a single setup. DMG works together with REDEX here. The European specialist in precision drives equips the X-, Y-, and C-axis with a TwinDrive rack and pinion drive system. REDEX precision drives are however also used in other drives axes and in the main milling spindle drive.
With products ranging from a portable and cost effective system for automating the collection of environmental water data (Kingfisher) to a rugged and easy-to-use unmanned ground vehicle for rapid prototyping (Husky), Clearpath Robotics is making a mark in the complex and growing field of robotics. The roboticists at Clearpath specialize in unmanned vehicle design and control, and their unmanned systems are used by some of North America's leading technical institutions for cutting edge industrial and military. MapleSim physical modeling and simulation software is a key partner in helping Clearpath design models quickly, because of its exceptional 3-D multibody dynamics and multi-domain modeling capabilities.
As one of the leading manufacturers of components and systems for electrical engineering and automation, Eaton is now offering easySafety for the safe monitoring of furnaces – also with TÜV approval. Machines and plants contain potentially dangerous motion sequences that require a technical solution to make them safe. Safety devices such as emergency-stop pushbuttons, guard doors, light curtains and operating elements for safe setting must be controlled and monitored, and the installation may have to be switched to a safe state. Safety-related monitoring is also required in furnaces. EN 50156 stipulates that the fuel supply must be shut off safely as soon as the safety criteria in the boiler plant responds. The easySafety control relay has now also been tested and approved by TÜV Rheinland for use in the safe monitoring of furnaces in accordance with EN 50156: easySafety thus enables users to implement a safety shut off of the fuel supply to furnaces up to safety integrity level SIL 3.
