Desa Sejahtera Astra Bogor Exports 10 Tons of Sweet Potatoes to Malaysia and Singapore
Village-based agribusiness ecosystem by Astra and IPB supports sustainable exports and strengthens local economic growth.

Astra reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening rural economic potential through the export of 10 tons of sweet potatoes to Malaysia and Singapore. The shipment came from five Desa Sejahtera Astra (DSA) villages in Bogor Regency, West Java. This first export marks a milestone in the community-based sweet potato business ecosystem developed by Astra and IPB University, and was commemorated in a ceremony held at IPB’s Agribusiness and Technology Park (ATP) today, July 22.
Present at the ceremony were Fajarini Puntodewi, S.H., M.Si. (Director General of National Export Development, Ministry of Trade), Dr. H. Yusra, M.Pd. (Director of Promotion and Marketing for Village and Disadvantaged Region Signature Products, Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions), Arif Satria (Rector of IPB University), Andri Hadian, S.E., S.T., M.M. (Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs, Bogor Regency), and Triyanto (CSR Strategic Department Head, Astra).
Before the ceremony, guests visited one of the main sweet potato-producing villages and its packaging facility. As part of the efforts to boost sweet potato sales in the export market, a cooperation agreement was also signed between the community-based sweet potato business ecosystem and the offtaker to ensure the continuity of future exports.
“Congratulations to Desa Sejahtera Astra and IPB on the export of sweet potatoes to Singapore and Malaysia. May this initiative serve as momentum to further expand export markets for Indonesian products, while also driving both local and national economies,” said Fajarini Puntodewi.
“This effort embodies Astra’s mission to prosper with the nation. It reflects our commitment to empowering village communities to grow sustainably. Synergy among society, academia, government, and the business sector is key to creating value-added village products. Through this sweet potato export initiative, we hope to broaden market access and further strengthen the agricultural value chain from upstream to downstream,” said Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Boy Kelana Soebroto.
This program is a collaboration between Astra, IPB University, the local government, and relevant ministries. Employing a business ecosystem approach, it has provided intensive support to farmers from five villages—Benteng, Bojong Jengkol, Dukuh, Pamijahan, and Tapos—through standardized cultivation, post-harvest processing, and access to local and export markets. Exported products include various sweet potato varieties like purple, honey, beniazuma, and orange, along with processed goods such as chips, jam, and paste.
By mid-2025, Desa Sejahtera Astra Bogor had exported over 65 tons of sweet potatoes to Malaysia and Singapore, averaging 10–13 tons per month. Ninety percent of the farmers’ harvests were absorbed by the market, with 50% going to export, creating 160 new jobs and doubling farmers’ income.
Astra’s support for strengthening village-based economic ecosystem through the Desa Sejahtera Astra initiative aligns with its mission to prosper with the nation and contributes to Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Today, there are more than 1,500 Desa Sejahtera Astra (DSA) and Kampung Berseri Astra (KBA) villages throughout the country.
