Gerard Chan, President Director and Country Holding Officer of PT ABB Sakti Industri said that ABB is proud to continue the commitment to supporting PLN with high-performance, locally manufactured MCBs. “This contract signing between ABB and PLN accentuates the commitment of both companies to continue providing PLN’s consumers across the country with high quality products that will help protect homes and devices from short circuits and overload faults” explained Gerard.
For more than twenty years, ABB has a proven track record as a PLN supplier, with outstanding quality and unmatched capacity. ABB is the pioneer in the field of MCBs. In Indonesia, ABB MCBs are certified by SNI, the Indonesian National Standard, and SPLN (PLN corporate certificate for quality assurance) which certifies the safety, quality, and performance of electrical equipment. In addition, the MCBs also provide a high level of domestic component level.
Wiluyo Kusdwiharto, Director of Project Management and New Renewable Energy of PT PLN said that PLN is committed to provide the best service to its customers, one of which is by utilizing high quality materials with high TKDN level.
"We are using the best quality resources and prioritizing products that have high level of TKDN. This is in line with our commitment to provide best quality of service to our customers," said Wiluyo.
In 2022, ABB’s MCBs were recognized for its domestic component level (TKDN – Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri). The recognition of “The best TKDN MCB” was awarded by PLN during the event “PLN LOCOMOTION – Local Content Movement for the Nation” in Jakarta, Indonesia. Previously, ABB had also supplied MCB to PLN to support Indonesia with safe and reliable electrification.
ABB’s MCB factory in Cibitung ramped up its yearly capacity to millions of MCB poles last year, to serve PLN and meet export orders from the countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, and New Zealand. The factory is equipped with state-of-the-art assembly automation and product-testing equipment. As part of the company’s commitment to sustainability, the factory is equipped with solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in the factory rooftop.
The clean power generated from the plant is used to power some of operational activities in the factory. The factory also implements RECP (Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production) assessment, which help the factory manage to identify saving of hundreds of millions of Rupiah for electricity, water, and material consumption of manufacturing process. Furthermore, the factory can also identify potential reduction of 224–ton CO2 per year..
ABB’s MCBs ensures electrical safety in offices and commercial buildings, and for industrial applications, by protecting electrical installations against overloads and short circuits. Once a fault is detected, the MCB automatically turns off the electrical circuit to prevent damage to wires and to avoid the risk of fire.
