Advantech and Overview Collaboration Yields Next-Gen Industrial AI Vision System Platform

Advantech and Overview have launched the OV20i, an AI vision inspection system leveraging deep learning technology to automate and improve inspection processes.

The intuitive OV20i platform offers flexibility to meet diverse application needs, while eliminating the need for coding expertise. The next-generation AI vision system combines Advantech’s ICAM-520 edge AI camera with Overview’s deep-learning technology to deliver an all-in-one, powerful and highly accurate vision solution. The OV20i platform is ideal for manufacturers, integrated factory equipment makers and systems integrators.

Manufacturers look to automation technologies to help with factory floor concerns, such as production yield and traceability, manual inspection expenses, employee turnover, shrinking profit margins and more. The OV20i assists in automation process transformation and enhances inspection quality procedures, resulting in labor and waste reductions, yield improvements and, ultimately, a decrease in the total cost of operations.

Unlike typical vision systems, the OV20i saves all relevant process data and creates a traceable visual record for every unit. Saving data via cataloging, it is available for easy search and analysis. This not only helps with traceability, but also allows for the discovery of yield loss sources. Users can determine the root cause of losses with data post-processing.

Embedded with NVIDIA^® Jetson Xavier NX™ modules, the Advantech ICAM-520 AI camera and Overview OV20i software combines an industrial-grade image sensor, advanced LED lighting and variable focus lens with image acquisition and AI compute capabilities. These features enable systems integrators and software vendors to integrate AI and machine vision into applications, while also efficiently performing AI defect inspection and assembly verification. AI inspection algorithms with the OV20i include presence/absence determination, quality grading and classification by color, size and/or texture.
