The steute business field »Wireless« is continuing to expand the number of possible industrial applications for its innovative »energy harvesting« radio technology. steute is introducing a new radio standard which, has the advantage of a longer-range wireless connection. This makes it possible to operate wireless switchgear at ranges of up to 700m outdoors, without an energy supply. The radio protocol uses the 868 MHz waveband, or 915 MHz in the North American version. The 915 MHz version is certified in accordance with FCC and IC; CSA/UL certification is in preparation.
The control devices in the Steute Ex RF BF 80 series, that have been designed for use in explosive zones, are now also wireless and self-sufficient. They will be shown at the SPS/ IPC/ DRIVES exhibition 2011
They are extremely robust and very versatile applicable – they were completely new designed. The steute business field »Wireless« introduces a new generation of radio position switches the series RF 98 with the mounting dimensions according to DIN EN 50041 (big standard switch). These radio position switches work according to the innovative »Energy Harvesting« principle and therefore do not require cables or batteries.
The advantages of wireless communication are particularly obvious in the case of foot controls. The units can be positioned at will and there are no cables to trip over or restrict movement. With the RF GFI/ GFIS series engineers wishing to exploit these advantages not only have a new series of wireless foot switches at their disposal; they can also use a new high reliability wireless standard developed by steute.
